how does hypnosis work
Hypnosis induces deep relaxation of the conscious mind to unlock the power of the subconscious mind. Doing so allows us to program positive healing ideas into the subconscious mind for the body and brain to act on.

is there any research to support its effectiveness or is it anecdotal evidence?
A study funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and conducted at the University of New Mexico Hospital by International Board of Hypnotherapy members, utilizing Integral Hypnotherapy determined that hypnotherapy mobilizes the healing power of the mind to produce evidence-based results.

how many sessions does it take to make progress?
Progress is a process, and client progress depends on client dedication to both their goals and their daily self-hypnosis practice. Clients may see progress as early as the first session. On average, clients achieve goals within 3-6 sessions. In the instance of we have had to go is 10 sessions.

what if you're not really open to hypnosis?
If you find yourself hesitating, let's connect. People can be resistant for any number of reasons; hypnotherapy is not for everyone; and not all hypnotherapists are the same. We want to get to know you better and determine if hypnotherapy is the right fit for you.

are there downsides to hypnosis?
No. Hypnosis is a natural, altered state of mind with numerous beneficial characteristics such as an extraordinary state of relaxation and increased responsiveness to therapeutic suggestion.
Certain practices can have negative side effects. For example, aversion therapy can make you physically ill with certain stimuli. We do not practice aversion therapy.

what is the difference between hypnosis practitioner and hypnotherapist?
The use of hypnotherapist or hypnosis practitioners depends on state legislature. The state of Texas requires hypnotists to refer to themselves as "hypnosis practitioner" unless they also have licensing as a therapist. Hypnosis practitioners may be able to support emotional work, depending on their training.

what should you look for in a hypnosis practitioner?
When selecting your hypnosis practitioner, there are a few qualities to look for:

Board Certified by a regulatory body with high standards. Our practitioners are certified by the International Board of Hypnotherapy (IBH), as they have the most rigorous requirements for certification.

Trained at an institution with at least 300 hours of live training with supervised practice.

Sustainable change takes time. The best hypnotherapists respect the nature of process and invest the time to support their clients.
- Words matter. Find a practitioner who takes into account the importance of words to you. therapeutic suggestions should be personalized to your goal and written collaboratively with you.
